Talking Watches 2 With John Mayer. Silicon technology makes its way into a tried-and-true, ETA-supplied chronograph caliber for the very first time. This is a large watch, and it features a complex mechanism called a "drift-angle calculator," which Hamilton says pilots can use to calculate crosswinds. But for most of this watch's potential owners, the real appeal will come from the tool-watch aesthetic and the robust Valjoux chronograph that's been modified specifically for Hamilton in meaningful ways. Hamilton partnered with its fellow Swatch Group subsidiary to make this movement.

The limited edition is no different here but it comes with a couple of subtle changes, which only add to the charm of the watch. The first noticeable change is addition of vintage lume on both hands and indices. The other change that I really dig is the new shape of screw-down crowns. The crowns have a more cone-like shape, which gives the whole watch a more refined and mature look. The last but not least, the limited edition X-Wind by Hamilton is equipped with the same automatic chronograph H movement that was used in the original X-Wind. However, there are some changes there as well. This is the first Hamilton chronograph watch which utilizes a silicon hairspring, and on top of that each watch is COSC certified as a chronometer.

Whether it was railway or steamboat, the owners of these companies signed a contract to carry the mail. That first airmail service flight delivered 4 bags of mail including a letter from the Postmaster of Washington to the Postmaster of New York.
