Season 8 of Game of Thrones was announced by D. Weiss and David Benioff on March 12, Like Season 7 , Season 8 is shorter than previous seasons, consisting of six episodes, due to the smaller amount of story content remaining, as well as the increased production values and time required to film episodes involving larger set pieces than in previous seasons. Filming for season 8 began on October 23, and ended on July 6, It premiered on April 14, and ended on May 19, Like the sixth and seventh seasons, Season 8 is based on an outline of the two final, presently-unpublished novels in George R. Season 8 is the final season of Game of Thrones , though after the conclusion of Season 8, five potential prequel projects were pitched to HBO.
Season eight of HBO's "Game of Thrones" has come to an end and a lot of people are really annoyed about how it played out. I'm going to break down the main reasons why fans were left so disappointed by what was supposed to be a fitting conclusion to one of the greatest ever TV shows. Let's start with the big one, The whole thing just felt like it was rushed. Everything in season eight seemed to be happening too quickly and it would often feel like three episodes worth of information was being crammed into one feature-length episode. A side effect of this was that we weren't able to enjoy the big pay-off moments in the way that we had done previously. For example, In episode one of season eight, Jon rode Rhaegal, something that has huge significance, but it just happened and didn't feel like a big event. And the reason is because it came halfway through an episode where Jon is reunited with Bran and Arya, Theon saves Yara, the golden company arrives in Westeros, Ned Umber is killed by the white walkers, Jaime Lannister turns up unannounced at Winterfell and has a stare-off with Bran, and Jon learns that he is actually Aegon Targaryen heir to the iron throne and nephew of his lover Dany.
The eighth and final season of the fantasy drama television series Game of Thrones , produced by HBO , premiered on April 14, , and concluded on May 19, Unlike the first six seasons, which consisted of ten episodes each, and the seventh season , which consisted of seven episodes, the eighth season consists of only six episodes. The final season depicts the culmination of the series' two primary conflicts: the Great War against the Army of the Dead, and the Last War for control of the Iron Throne. The first half of the season involves many of the main characters converging at Winterfell with their armies in an effort to repel the Night King and his army of White Walkers and wights. The second half of the season resumes the war for the throne as Daenerys Targaryen assaults King's Landing in an attempt to unseat Cersei Lannister as the ruler of the Seven Kingdoms. The season was filmed from October to July and largely consists of original content not found in George R.
With the final season fast approaching, now is the perfect time to finally start Game of Thrones. Here are five reasons why. Eight seasons can be hard to keep straight. 9 reasons 'Game of Thrones' season 8 was a huge disappointment
It's safe to say that Game of Thrones ' final season was controversial among fans, with many finding it a gigantic disappointment. Even before the last episode had aired, there was a petition online calling on HBO to reshoot the entire season, blaming the problem on the writers not having source material from author George R. Martin to work with. The petition, which gained over a million signatures , read: "David Benioff and D. Weiss have proven themselves to be woefully incompetent writers when they have no source material i. While many stars of the show have weighed in on the petition , now HBO president Casey Bloys has finally had his say. Speaking at the Television Critics Association summer press tour, Bloys addressed the final season's criticism by saying via TV Line : "There are very, very few downsides to having a hugely popular show.
